She's rumoured to be planning a major musical comeback.

But Rihanna was trying to keep a low-profile as she headed home on Thursday night following a day spent at the recording studio in New York City.

The Diamonds singer tried to go incognito in her casual look, pulling her grey woolly dress up over her face.

Shunning her usual skimpy style for full-on winter gear, Rihanna looked seriously warm in her cosy khaki coat.

Her suede thigh-high boots left just an inch of skin on display and she was carrying a leather bag in one hand.

The 26-year-old star accessorized with a gold necklace and funky sunglasses, pulling her hair up into a top knot.

Meanwhile, Rihanna marked her music manager Jay's 45th birthday on Thursday with an Instagram tribute.

The Pour It Up singer took to the social media app to playfully call attention to a throwback photo of a much younger version of the rapper.

The 80s-looking image features the then-aspiring artist wearing gold grills and a matching thick gold chain.

With no need for a caption, Rihanna simply wrote 'Jz' alongside the upload.

Despite poking fun at the rapper, the 26-year-old owes much of her fame to Jay Z, who signed her to Def Jam Records in 2003 as then-president of the label.

In 2007, Rihanna joined Jay Z's Roc Nation Management and they have collaborated on multiple hit songs, such as Umbrella and Run This Town.

Former first daughter, Jenna Bush Hager, confessed on Watch What Happens Live recently that her father, George W. Bush, is a fan too.

'He’s not a big Kanye fan. If you remember, there was a little tension,' she said, referring to the 2005 Hurricane Katrina fundraiser when West said Bush 'doesn't care about black people.'

'But he likes Jay Z,' she confirmed.
