Actor Morgan Freeman appeared dejected as he resumed work on his latest film project in New York City Tuesday, marking his first public sighting since the brutal murder of his step-granddaughter E'Dena Hines.
Freeman, 78, was photographed on the set of the upcoming comedy Going in Style - a remake of a 1979 George Burns caper - also starring fellow Academy Award winners Michael Caine and Alan Arkin.
The movie follows a trio of down-on-their-luck retirees who concoct a plot to rob a bank that is withholding their pensions.

Morgan resumed work on the movie just two days after Hines, 33, was found stabbed to death on a sidewalk in Washington Heights in what has been described in multiple published reports as a suspected cocaine-fueled exorcism attempt. 
Hines' boyfriend, 30-year-old Lamar Davenport, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection to her death. 
Miss Hines was the granddaughter of Morgan Freeman's first wife Jeanette Adair Bradshaw and a regular on the red carpet with the Oscar-winning actor. 
Freeman, who was once forced to deny a romantic relationship with Hines, released a statement just hours after E'Dena's slaying saying: 'The world will never know her artistry in talent. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.'

He added: 'I want to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of love and support my family has received regarding the tragic and senseless passing of my granddaughter E'Dena Hines. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.' 
Dressed in a grey suit, striped tie, brown shoes and a red fedora hat, Freeman cut a somber figure as he took part in the New Line Cinema movie shoot Tuesday, surrounded by cast and crew.
The grieving grandfather kept his head bowed, only briefly flashing a smile as he pounded the New York City pavement, his stare glued to the ground. 
Officers responding to a 911 call around 3am Sunday found Ms Hines lying in front of her apartment building on West 165th Street with more than a dozen stab wounds to the chest. She was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital. 
Lamar Davenport, Hines' troubled boyfriend, has been charged with second-degree murder in the woman's death.

Witnesses described a bloody, frenzied scene in Washington Heights early Sunday, claiming that 'Davenport was stabbing Hines and screaming: 'Get out, devils. In the name of Jesus Christ, I cast you out.’
The 30-year-old aspiring rapper with a troubled past was taken into custody and underwent a mental evaluation at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Columbia. 
E'Dena, who was the granddaughter of Freeman's first wife, Jeanette Adair Bradshaw, followed her famous step-grandfather's footsteps into show business and studied New York University's Graduate Acting Program. 
Following a stint in Memphis, Tennessee, she moved back to New York last April after being cast in a small indie film called Landing Up, which began shooting in June. She spoke of her excitement about the career-changing role on her blog.
'My dream has come true and its just beginning. Life can make you want to give up or walk away; sometimes it gives you the strength to appreciate when you do get your happy ending,' she wrote in a blog post on July 7.

It's been five months since Rob Kardashian shared an insulting post regarding sister Kim on Instagram, calling her a 'b***h.'
And it seems the 28-year-old has patched things up with his sister, and is feeling in better spirits, as he has marked his return to social media with a much more upbeat series of posts.
On Sunday he shared one such tweet, which happened to be a meme including Kim's husband Kanye West and young daughter North.

The message compared Rob's two-year-old niece with the rapper as he struck a triumphant pose onstage.
'Happy sundayyyyy yallllll,' he wrote, alongside the hilarious pair of images, which marks the second sweet Kanye and North post Rob has shared since he returned to Instagram at the end of July. 
North looks adorable in the photo, a she sports a spaghetti strap denim jumpsuit while striking a pose on a brick patio.
The celebrity tot has a pair of beige sandals on and can be seen throwing one arm in the air for the photo. 
Meanwhile, Kanye can be seen wearing a coordinating denim jacket and trousers, with a second denim jacket wrapped around his waist as her performs onstage.
He has one leg kicked out to the side and looks triumphant as he has one arm thrown into the air in the shot, much like his young daughter in her photograph.

Just three days prior Rob took to Instagram to share a sweet snap of Kanye planting a kiss on his daughter's cheek, posted without comment.
However, the biggest sign that the only son of Kris Jenner had reconciled with his older sister came on Friday, as he commended the pregnant star following a hike the two had taken together.
The 34-year-old had taken to her Twitter account to gush about the difficult hike, writing: 'Just went on the hardest hike ever today with @robkardashian.' 
In response, Rob re-posted Kim's tweet to his 3.3M Instagram followers with the caption: 'GOOD work gurrrrrrllllll‼️'
The heartwarming posts come five months after Rob drew parallels between Kim and Rosamund Pike's character Amy Elliott-Dunne, the cunning villain of 2014 movie Gone Girl.

In the past Kim - who is pregnant with a baby boy, due in December, has been vocal about a tough love approach to Rob and his issues.
During an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians in April, matriarch Kris Jenner was in tears about how they could best help Rob.
Jenner said: 'I'm not a therapist. I'm not a doctor, but I do know that we've got all of the resources in the world, and yet he doesn't access.'

Back in May 2014 Rob dramatically snubbed his sister's wedding to Kanye West in Italy. After flying in from Los Angeles to attend, he decided not to go at the last minute and caught a flight home.
It was rumored at the time that he had left because he didn't want to be pictured in family wedding photos due to his weight gain - around 100lbs in the last few years.

Kim later spoke to Andy Cohen during an episode of Watch What Happens Live last year and explained how Rob told her via email that he was leaving ahead of her wedding. 
'He sent me a long email the morning of that he was going to leave. There was no fight. I just thought, "You know what, this is my day. I'm not even going to worry about it," she told Cohen. 
'I totally understand that he wouldn't want to see a lot of people if he was feeling uncomfortable and you can only pray and wish that someone would not miss out on more memories in life, because life is about memories.'
Rob has remained out of the spotlight of late and only recently returned to Instagram in July after deleting his account. He was last pictured on June 17 making a fast food run to In-N-Out.

Kourtney Kardashian is turning up the heat while enjoying a family getaway to St. Barts after splitting from Scott Disick.
The 34-year-old - who has three young children - was spotted during an exercise session on Tuesday morning, and later that day showed off the results of her regular workouts on Instagram.
Kourtney posed in a teeny white bandeau bikini covered in a green plant print, with a green and white scarf wrapped around her head.

Kourtney is said to be seeking joint custody of the couple's three children, because she wants them to maintain a good relationship with their father.
